JARCAT 6 CATAMARAN TRAILER SAILER FOR SALE

SOLD SOLD SOLD
THE "CAT" HAS A NEW HOME ON THE NORTH COAST OF NSW. THANK TO EVERYONE WHO SHOWED SOME INTEREST.

JARCAT 6 TRAILER SAILER - CATAMARAN
$2600 (or best offer)

The JARCAT 6 is a delightful little, hard to find, trailerable catamaran. The boat was originally bought to go straight in the water until it was decided to pull it out and give the paintwork and interior an update. After many distractions with work and the like (usual story) the refurbishment project was mothballed several years ago and now it is time to sell this fantastic bay sailer.

An ideal 1st boat or bay/river cruiser the Jarcat's are inherently stable in their design and set up to be easily managed under sail. They also have an advantage of a very shallow draft of 9".

The "Cat" can be easily loaded and unloaded off the custom tilt trailer by one person, same with lifting the mast and rigging the sails. Once finished there is enough interior room for a small galley, some storage and a double bed.

There is no outboard included with this boat but, according to the literature, enough maneuverability and speed can be gained from a simple and cheap 8hp longshaft motor. Claims have been made that the Jarcat will do 18kts with a 25HP outboard!

Trailer is a Custom Made Tilting Trailer built specifically for this boat. As mentioned earlier this type of trailer makes "one-man" operation a breeze. I have installed new wheel bearings, new wiring and all the lights are functioning. The old flaky paint and spot rust has been removed and then coated it with heavy duty "Kill Rust".
The trailer will have an RTA Blue Slip (that will enable it to be legally towed from Point A to Point B), but the trailer will be unregistered.

Pretty much everything is there to get the CAT seaworthy again. Full set of Sails, New hatches, wiring, instruments, fittings, etc. (A brief description of these is given below)

As an honest estimate (personally) would say that there are about 150-200 man hours involved to get the boat in the water and sailing again.

UPDATED INFO (31/1/11):

Short update on other things I've discovered about the boat, since I started prepping it for sale.

Sorry I don't have any photos (yet) of what I'm about to describe, so I'll do my best...

It appears some time ago, when the refurbishment started, that the boat had been "on it's back" for glassing and paint work to the underside of the hull. When the hull was turned back right way up, it fell off the truss supports and has cracked the Port side hull along the chines (about 2.5mtr long). You can just make out the crack in the header photo (near the blue bucket.)

Upon further inspection the upper and lower stringers (internal) have split along their length and would need to be replaced.

After looking at the various JARCAT build sites and the like, it would appear that the solution is to strip the skin off (most of) the inside port hull and make necessary repairs to the stringers that way. The skin on the hulls is not full length, so I think that a few sections of paneling could be pulled off and repaired like that.

Overall I would estimate that (personally) it would take about 40 man hours to complete these repairs with basic tools and minimal costs (if the panels were removed with care!)

There are some other minor repairs to the wood work required which could easily be fixed without too much fuss (See below).

Location for viewing/pick-up is Jervis Bay Area, South Coast. NSW. If the Boat needs to be delivered interstate then transportation is at the Buyers cost.
